“It is really helpful. If someone doesn't know the seasons they can find it out. I liked how it moves around and the top comes off."

Louise, 8 years old

Circa Calendar is proud to announce its appointment of Cicada Education Ltd as its exclusive Global Schools Distributor. We look forward to a successful partnership.

FAQs

AWARDS

What is the recommended age for Circa calendar?

Our recommended age is 3 years old. Any children under 3 years old should be supervised by an adult because of choking hazard due to small parts.

Is 3 years old not a bit young for children to learn the calendar?

The Circa calendar is designed to help children understand each component of the calendar at their own pace. For example, even children at three can begin to familiarise themselves with certain aspects, such as learning the weekdays nursery rhyme. They could even learn to discover their numbers by just moving the markers around the days of the months disc. So there are many elements of the calendar that children can learn even at the age of three.

What’s the point of having a perpetual year dial when we won’t ever get to 9999?

The year 9999 is a date that none of us will ever see - unless the mystery of time travelling is solved in our lifetime! What the year dial does offer is another fun way for children to discover their numbers and counting up to a very large number. Our own in-house Circa tester enjoys trying to find her numbers on the year dial.

I’m an adult and I find the Circa calendar confusing! How do you expect a child to find it easier?

On first glance, Circa calendar can perhaps look a bit overwhelming for an adult. But this is because as adults we are conditioned to view the calendar linearly and only one month per page. However, children naturally think outside the box and if they are not yet familiar with the linear calendar, the Circa calendar will make more sense for them, as they can intuitively understand the cyclical nature of the calendar by moving the markers round continuously. Because Circa splits each of the major components of the calendar into separate units, children can focus on different components at the time rather than be overwhelmed by the unit as a whole.

Can I buy more stickers?

We do not currently sell the stickers separately. However, if there is a great demand for this we will certainly take a closer look at offering this in the future.

Can I hang the calendar up on my wall?

No, the Circa calendar is not designed to hang on the wall, as its purpose is for children to be able to use it and touch it as a reference whenever they need to. Additionally, it would be a safety hazard to hang Circa up on the wall given it is made of wood and could hurt someone if it fell off the wall. We are looking, however, at making a wall hung version in the future.

The printing quality of the year dial can be a bit off-centred at times.

In our desire to create a product made mostly out of wood or MDF, we had to make some compromises. So rather than have a year dial made entirely of metal or plastic and have perfect printing, we decided to stick with hand printing on wooden dials.

Which countries do you ship to?

We are currently able to ship to UK and Ireland, as well as Europe. We have retail outlets in Denmark and the Philippines. We do not currently ship outside these areas, as the postage cost would almost equal the cost of the actual product. However, we are looking for retailers and distributors to partner with in areas outside Europe.
